At Onsted Wildcats Soccer, we believe every player, coach, official, volunteer, and spectator deserves a positive and respectful environment. Youth soccer should be a place where players can learn, compete, grow, and have fun.
By participating in or attending practices, games, and events, all players and spectators agree to follow these expectations:
Respect for Officials
Players and spectators will not boo, yell at, argue with, or verbally abuse officials at any time. Officials are an important part of the game, and many youth soccer officials are volunteers or are still gaining experience.
Mistakes may happen, but disrespectful behavior sets a poor example, reflects negatively on our teams and community, and goes against the values of Onsted Wildcats Soccer.
Concerns about officiating should be handled through the proper channels, not during a match.
Encouraging Our Players
Spectators will support players with positive encouragement. Players are young athletes who are learning the game, and mistakes are part of that process.
Spectators should not yell instructions, criticize players, or coach from the sidelines. This can confuse players and interfere with the guidance being given by coaches. Praise and encouragement should be shared publicly; constructive feedback should be left to the coaches.
Player Expectations
Players are expected to show respect to coaches, teammates, opponents, officials, volunteers, and spectators at all times.
Players will listen to their coaches, follow team rules, give their best effort, and represent Onsted Wildcats Soccer with good sportsmanship. Players are expected to encourage their teammates, accept coaching respectfully, and handle both success and mistakes with a positive attitude.
Bullying, teasing, name-calling, intimidation, fighting, inappropriate language, or unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated.
Respect for Opposing Teams and Spectators
Players and spectators will treat opposing players, coaches, officials, and supporters with courtesy and respect. Argumentative, threatening, or abusive language will not be tolerated.
We expect our players to show sportsmanship before, during, and after each match. Spectators are expected to model that same behavior.
Grace in Winning and Losing
Soccer, like life, does not always end in a win. Players and spectators are expected to handle both victory and defeat with grace.
After a loss, players should be reminded that honest effort, teamwork, and learning matter. Blaming officials, field conditions, teammates, or opponents is not a healthy or productive response. Every match provides an opportunity to grow.

The purpose of youth soccer is to help players improve their skills, learn sportsmanship, build responsibility and self-discipline, develop teamwork, compete within the rules, respect officials, and enjoy the game.
